I liked it but it should be noted that this model has no Audio-in plug.

5-0 out of 5 stars This Thing Rocks, July 20, 2009
For $119.00 you can't go wrong. I can see the display fine. The only con I can find is the EQ is ROCK, FLAT , MP3. That kind of stuff I like more control with my EQ. Sony makes some of the best audio sound on the market for the price. If your a low end buyer stick to sony and only sony.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good sound - good price - but..., February 5, 2010
Decent sound for the price and the Ipod dock is nice. However, there is no alt input despite the description and despite the fact that Sony says it's there. Other than that it's working just fine.

4-0 out of 5 stars Sony MHC-EC69i Mini Hi-Fi Shelf System with Integrated iPod Dock (Purchased on 09/29/2010), October 31, 2010
I purchased this system for my home art studio. The size is great, fits on a small shelf. I like that it has a remote. The iPod dock is easy to use and conveniently folds up when not in use.
The sound is adequate for my purposes. And the price was exactly right. I am very pleased with this purchase and would recommend this system.

Nice product, however, found it at my local Wal-Mart for $97, and obviously no shipping so I saved at least $20. However, if you are not near a Wal-Mart then buying this product from Amazon would be highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Sound for a Small Price!, May 26, 2010
Bought this system for my Work Out Rm. It has decent sound, plenty of volume for a 15'x 20' room. I only listen to I-Pod or CD's. Sound quality isn't what you'd get with a component system, but for a few more than a $100, it was well worth it. When playing CD's the readout shows the album & song name, which a lot of shelf systems don't.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Speakers, June 17, 2010
When people say that these speakers are junk, don't listen. Sure Bose and Yamaha speakers sound better (especially indoors), but that's okay because these speakers cost 1/10 the price of those brands. When you live in a place like Wisconsin off the shores of a lake, there's no way one can pay the price for good speakers, so I thought I'd give these a try. A just one day after I received the pair, I ordered 3 more pairs.

Here's what I've found:
These speakers are absolutely amazing for the price! Outdoors, these speakers sound like they cost 5 times as much. They really do deliver good sound. (Note: these speakers don't sound too good indoors, but that's okay) The speakers (if used with the right gauge wire and according to specifications) Deliver excellent sounds and can actually pump out the noise quite well. There is little to no distortion, the highs and lows are great, and the fact that the speakers are 3-way is even better. The quality of the speaker itself is terrific. However, to be honest, the mounting isn't that good. But, its simple enough to reinforce it.

I have 5 zones around my house outdoors (one with rock speakers) and use 14 gauge wire, with my longest run being just under 100 feet. I'd recommend this gauge wire for any lengths 25'-200'. Coleman Cable 09504 14/2 Low Voltage Direct Burial Garden Light Cable, Black, 100-Feet Is an EXCELLENT wire to choose from. Do not waste money buying outdoor speaker wire, its a scam. Just buy landscaping wire, it is meant to be buried and withstand the outdoors. I cannot foresee the plastic on this wire diminish in any way. It is a great wire to use with speakers.

Specifications from Owners Manual:
Model: LU43P
Frequency Response 100Hz - 20kHz
Woofer: 4"(100mm) Polyelite PVA Surround
Midrange: 40mm polypropylene
Tweeter: 20mm Piezo Dome
Sensitivity: 85.5dB (2.83v @ 1 meter)
Nominal Impedance: 4-6ohms
Power Handling*: 50watts RMS - 100watts (IPP)
Dimensions (Inches HxWxD) 8.39" x 5.47" x 5.47"
Weight: 2.8lbs
Finish: White or Black
*Power handling is based on amplifier volume never being set above the point of audible distortion

In Conclusion:
-These are great speakers if used outdoors and under the specifications provided.
-I would not recommend these speakers to be used indoors.
-I recommend 14AWG landscape wire as use for speaker wire
-A 75 Watt receiver can really make these speakers sing at great sound
-As long as these speakers are out of the sun and direct rain, they seem like they will last long
-Not a huge investment, so If you live in a harsh climate, not a big deal

Why I am qualified to say this:
I am a computer engineer who uses Yamaha and Bose speakers indoors, nothing less! I have a very close friend who has 12 Bose speaker zones at her house (each with their own remote and 4 outdoors) and will admit they do sound better, but lets be realistic: you will be much more satisfied that you saved money on these great speakers and that you don't need to baby them. The sound difference is so small that for the price and correct hook up, I'd recommend these speakers over say Bose speakers because of the benefits possessed in the Dual speakers.

Hope you found this useful, and good luck buying.

5-0 out of 5 stars 5 1/4" Black 3-WAY 100 Watt Indoor/outdoor Loudspeakers, July 16, 2007
They work great. I bought 2 sets. I use one set outside my home for our pool. The other set I use at my shop. Nice audio, obviously weather resistant.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Speakers from Amazon.com, May 15, 2010
These are my second pair. I have one set in my yard under a tree that's been outside over two years and they are just as good as when i received them.
this pair I put on my deck. The sound is great for such an inexpensive product.
I also have 2 sets of Bose speakers outside by the pool - I take them in during the winter because of the price, but the duals' sound is quite comparable; but I am not an audiophile!

3-0 out of 5 stars Too cheap to be true, October 11, 2007
At this price, under forty, I was just hoping I would get the Dual 5.25 speakers. But I suspected that they would be 4 in., and they were. Still they sound OK on my deck. No complaints, really, just be aware that these are mis-marked.

2-0 out of 5 stars Good Company, Mis-Marked Item, November 12, 2009
Speakers are ok, Dual is a good company.

BUT, a little irritated because they are listed as 5 1/4" but are really the 4" set. Not just the size of the woofer too but, obviously, the wattage is lower. Expected better from Amazon.

5-0 out of 5 stars outdoor speakers, August 4, 2008
Excellent value for the money. I have these mounted on my fence corners out by my pool. They sound great! Better than expected for the cost. Quick delivery.

5-0 out of 5 stars great speakers, May 23, 2007
For the price you cant go wrong with these speakers. I have them mounted outside on my deck and they sound great. They also seem built well enough to handle the elements outdoors. the mounting brackets are easy to work with. Great soung and look for a great price

4-0 out of 5 stars for $22, can't really complain, November 6, 2006
these speakers work fine. not much bass, but i can't really complain since it's only $22...

1-0 out of 5 stars Dual make speakers that work?, October 17, 2010
Purchased a pair of 53's that worked good for 1 month then both went out. Returned to Dual`and was informed the 53's were no longer available but they could send me the 43's as a replacement. Not happy with my options I asked if the 43's were 8 ohm, the answer was yes so I told them to ship. One week`later I recieved a damaged set of 43's that when I hooked up did not work and are 4-6 ohm. Just ordered a pair of Pyle speakers, will deal with Dual tommorow.

4-0 out of 5 stars Better than it's reputation!, February 16, 2004
I almost didn't order this based on the poor reviews and Consumers Reports findings. I needed a thin center speaker to go with the acoustimass cubes - this was the logical choice. After researching it at length there were mixed reviews with many negative comments. I called Cruthfield and the Bose Outlet to get their opinions. They were surprised to hear that there were negative comments. The Bose outlet advised theirs sounded great and noted it must be hooked directly to the receiver - not the module like the cubes. I have had the speaker for a couple weeks and it sounds great. I have two other surround systems, one high end and a lower end system and the Bose performs admirably for such a compact system. The articulation of words coming from the center speaker sounds like a real person. I don't understand the bad reviews - unless it's not being connected properly. I have no axe to grind with Bose. I originally bought this speaker for a custom cabinet with almost no room for a center channel set up. This speaker has an incredibly small footprint. If space is limited, this is not a bad option.

However, being honest, this is not a great center channel speaker. Choosing speakers is like the addage "certain horses for certain courses." Your budget, your room, your components - all play a part.

I have two home theater setups. One is a daily gathering area with basic in wall treatments from Polk Audio. The other is a dedicated theater utilizing Definitive Technologies with B&K Reference 7.1 Processing. Clearly the Bose VCS-10 can not hold its own with my larger setup. However, I have run it with my Polk Audio's and it was workable. The timbre match was slightly off and the vocals were not as sharp as they are with my Polk CSi3 but it was not awful.

My bottom line - you can certainly buy a better center channel speaker. Can you buy a better one in this price range. I think so - if you are only focused on the quality of this one speaker and not the blended sound of your system. You should always buy the best components within your budget - but remember you are building a system - it's not just about one speaker. If this speaker fits your space and (more importantly) matches your other speakers, then it may be the right speaker for you.

5-0 out of 5 stars Bose VCS-10 Center Channel Speaker - Well worth the money!, January 20, 2004
I would have to say that I'm a bit surprised by the number of negative reviews for this exceptional product. I purchased a Bose VCS-10 Center Channel Speaker as soon as Bose started selling them. Given the overwhelming quality that is always associated with Bose speakers and my past experience with their speakers in the 401's and 301's; this choice, for me, was an easy one.

If you're like myself and the years has done a bit of a job on your hearing, the Bose VCS-10 Center Channel Speaker and the proper settings on your receiver will make a world of difference in your home theater system and ultimately your movie watching experience. With those proper settings on your receiver, this speaker will beautifully bring the dialogue out in your favorite movies that has previously been somewhat drowned out by the other speakers in your system and you will soon find yourself rarely asking what it was that they said!

Along with the exceptional quality in speakers that Bose is known for, this speaker will sit right there on top of your television set and as it is magnetically shielded, it will not have an effect on your television set at all.

I highly recommend the Bose VCS-10 Center Channel Speaker to any and all that are in the market for a center channel speaker and are of a mood to get the highest quality product available without spending way too much money. I've used one for years and have been thoroughly happy with it, only recently replacing it on one system with a Bose Acoustimass system but that VCS-10 is right there, leading the way on another system! For years of quality output, you'd be hard pressed to do better for the meager price! {ssintrepid}

1-0 out of 5 stars Bose blows, May 11, 2006
I purchased this speaker about four years ago to complement my Bose main speakers for my surround sound set up. At that time, I felt the sound quality was pretty good but over the years as I listened to other center channels that other people had in their home theater set ups I came to realize that the Bose center speaker sound quality was not up to par. So last year, I purchased a Polk center speaker and the improvement in sound quality is absolutely insane. The Polk speaker which costs the same as the Bose ($199) was far and away the better product. The sound is cleaner, crisper, sharper...it made watching movies much more enjoyable. I couldn't believe what I had been missing out on all these years. The only reason I purchased the Bose was to match my speakers but that was a mistake because the sound I have now with Polk center and Bose main is excellent. Depending on who you ask, the center speaker is the most important speaker in a home entertainment audio system. If that's true then I wouldn't recommend Bose because all you're doing is buying the name and not the sound quality and to me that's a waste of money. I know because I made that mistake.

5-0 out of 5 stars Made a huge improvement in my system, January 25, 2009
I've had the Bose Acoustimass system for 6 years and have been using a 5th cube for the center channel. I purchased a new home theater cabinet for Christmas and decided that the center cube wasn't visually appealing so I purchased the center channel speaker strictly for its appearance. I wasn't expecting the speaker to make much difference in the sound of my system but, when I turned the system on WOW what a difference it made. The surround separation is 50% better and the center channel is much more clear. Well worth the money.

I ordered through Amazon and received the speaker from 6Ave in two days.

5-0 out of 5 stars Placement is key...., January 6, 2005
I received this speaker as a gift for xmas. When I first plugged it in, I experienced the same problem that other people had complained about...the voices seemed weak and difficult to understand. I turned the dB level all the way up and it became tolerable, but still not very good. I then happened across a website that discussed speaker placement. It suggested placing the center speaker directly above or below the tv (duh), but also said to make sure it was reasonably level with the tweeters on the side speakers (within about a foot). I made this adjustment and WOW! It was like night and day. The sound was incredible! Those of you who had problems might want to try something along these lines, and those of you checking this speaker out in stores should make sure everything is aligned properly when you listen. Hope that helps.

EDIT.....I have since tried out different centers, most of which sounded better than this one. If I were to rate it again, I would more likely give it a 3. Also, I have found that matching your center to your sides (manufacturers usually design centers to match the timbre and tone of their corresponding side speakers) can really improve the sound.

1-0 out of 5 stars These sound terrible. Bottom of the list in independent tests, December 24, 2005
Consumer Reports placed these at the bottom of the list of one of their recent center channel speaker comparisons, and I COULD NOT AGREE MORE. Lower costing speakers performed far better. In some calculated tests of my own, I found these had far less range and "presence" than other major brand speakers. I have a Yamaha NS-C444 speaker that provides full, lifelike sound, and handles plenty of power.

This Bose center channel speaker was a major disappointment, and far from representative of their generally outstanding audio components.

2-0 out of 5 stars Worse than $60 Yamaha center speaker, December 16, 2004
I was thinking about this center speaker since seems this is the only one can be put onn the top of my Sony LCD rear projection TV but since read so many bad reviews here I decided to try one from CircuitCity.

Installed tonight and watching movies "Collateral". A lot of talking in the Cab but I can't hear clearly. I tune my receiver for a long time but only I can turn the volume very lound that I can hear the talking clearly but backgroud music is too lound.

Tried my Yamaha speaker bought from Bestbuy for $60 and wow... All I want to do is packing the Bose speaker and return it to the store.

Bose makes some good speakers but not this.

4-0 out of 5 stars Buy it for the low profile, January 13, 2008
This center channel speaker works fine. I don't own any other Bose products, I don't particularly like or dislike Bose, and I'm not an Audiophile. As other reviewers have mentioned, there are probably better-sounding center channel speakers for the price. I grabbed this one mainly because I appreciated its low profile styling; it is literally 3 inches tall.

3-0 out of 5 stars Sound is a bit muddy, February 18, 2007
I've had this as my center channel speaker for a couple of years now. My previous center channel was a Yamaha model and I was quite pleased with it, but at some point I needed to get something with a smaller footprint and I chose this Bose.

The big draw of the Bose for me was the shorter height, but I'm not completely satisfied with the sound quality. The sound is a bit "muddy". Dialog doesn't seem as clear as it could be, and I sometimes feel like I'm missing part of what is being said. I even had my hearing checked to see if I had a problem. I didn't thank goodness, but even so I decided to temporarily go back to using the Yamaha center channel.

To my surprise, the Yamaha center channel no longer sounded good. It sounded tinny and cheap compared to the sound from the Bose. So while I can't give the Bose high marks, it's not the worst speaker out there. I'm now using the Bose again, but due to it's relatively high selling price, I can't fully recommend it. ... Editorial Review

The Klipsch Synergy C-1 center channel speaker delivers subtle and thrilling performances by employing dual 4" magnetically shielded, IMG woofers and a 0.75" magnetically shielded, aluminum dome tweeter coupled to an exclusive square Tractrix(R) Horn, which increases sensitivity and minimizes room interactions that blur sonic detail. The C-1 has the panache that allows listeners to hear everything from the faintest whisper to the loudest roar with complete clarity. It is also timbre-matched to the entire range of Synergy speakers. Available in a black finish with titanium accents, the contemporary look of the C-1 is two-fold. With its grille on, the C-1 offers a sense of elegance that nicely blends in with your home décor, but take the grille off and you get an aggressive and powerful statement that exudes extreme performance. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars An older person with a hearing deficiency, February 8, 2010
There are 3 sizes for this speaker, but I'm glad I bought the smaller size. I have a hearing comprehension deficiency and wear hearing aids. I had tried several, including Bose, before I purchased the Cerwin Vega center speaker that I used for a number of years. None that I listened to before had the clarity that I find in the Klipsch. Inasmuch as the center channel speaker is aimed at voice transmission primarily, that is a big plus. There was no difficulty in installing it. I did have to balance the system (mine is 2 front speakers, center speaker and a 12" sub) to get all speakers at the same volume level, but that was done automatically by my Sony receiver, and the "wall of sound" was great. Also, I could understand the voice transmissions better than ever. Others may find one of the other sizes to be more satisfactory, but I don't think they'll go wrong with Klipsch.

5-0 out of 5 stars now we can hear dialogue, May 2, 2010
If you want good sound especially when watching movies you must have a center speaker. This one was the right size and of good enough quality to match the rest of my system. Before we had only left, right, and a sub woofer. So much sound is engineered to come from the center, like dialogue, that without that speaker you are missing a lot and sometimes can't make out what people are saying. That leads to turning up the sound and then when a big chase scene or shoot-em-up comes along you get blasted out of the room. A center channel speaker takes care of the problem and the quality of this Klipsh is excellent especially when you consider its modest price. I am very happy with my purchase.

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect for my needs, March 18, 2010
This is the perfect speaker for me and my system! You always here the old guys say "If I'd known I was going to live this long I would have taken better care of my teeth". In my case I wish for younger ears. My system consisted of Klipsch KLF-20 main's and a Klipsch KV-1 center speaker. Although the KV-1 is a good speaker I was having trouble hearing voices on TV and movies. This speaker is just what I needed. The voice is clear and sharp and plays nice with the large main speakers.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Speaker, Great Price, April 29, 2010
I bought this speaker to replace an older Yamaha center that came with my old home theater in a box package. I also have the Synergy F-1 floor standing speakers and kind of wanted some uniformity up front at least. The price was right too $79 is an amazing price for a brand new speaker. When I got this I replaced the Yamaha speaker while the system was on and as soon as both wires made contact I could tell a huge difference. The sound is much clearer now. I have found that I don't have to turn the volume of my system up as much as I used to for those quite conversation scenes. The speaker is much larger than the old one as well kind of a tight fit with the components in my entertainment center but I made it work and with the grill on the speaker it blends in a little and doens't look as big. Overall I am very pleased with this speaker and just hope that I can find as good of a deal on the sub and surrounds to complete the synergy package.

5-0 out of 5 stars Mighty Mini !!, June 5, 2010
New Sharp 52" led tv needed smaller sized center. I chose this speaker for the good name of Klipsch and the close overall design to my Acoustec Home Theater speakers set(a BIC/Acoustic hybrid Home Theater set...the best competition for Klipsch, Paradigm at near half the price)---This "fit" the bill. I found it showed the crisp and clean fidelity of center channel's around $200-$300. Depth and character is full and reaching. Bottom end is surprizingly full for a small center channel. It compares nicely with centers with dual 6 1/2" to 7"s. Excellent clarity at low/med volumes. My ears find the "HORN" type technology far superior and more "Live Like" than the diaphram designs. For an old gray-hair'd rocker like me...we need all the clarity we can get. Finally...for the $79/free ship price I got thru amazon...it put a big ole' smile on my face after i set it up...A very safe buy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Impressive sound in a smaller size, July 29, 2009
I purchaced one of these about 1 1/2 years ago, and i'm using it with 2 Polk monitor 60 fronts, and a Boston Acoustics 10" sub.

If you need an inexpensive or small center channel speaker ( i could'nt go bigger with my tv stand )this one is a very good performer.

At under $200.00, it's a bargain.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Speaker, Excellent Seller, July 16, 2010
A Klipsch speaker at this price is near extraordinary. The sound is crisp, bright and clear and projects the center channel of movies remarkably well. Set up for older mono movies it provides a remarkably apt sound stage. Ordered from Amazon and shipped by Vanns I could not be happier with the purchase.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good product, easy setup., March 17, 2010
I setup this center channel along with Klipsh B-3 speakers to Onkyo TX-SR507 5-Channel A/V Receiver.
The entire setup took about 60 mins. The center channel is fantastic & it delivers the results the way I expect it!

4-0 out of 5 stars Crisp, July 29, 2010
The center channel does it job of making the spoken word sound crisp and distinct. A well-balanced speaker. Good value. Plays nice with the other components, too.

5-0 out of 5 stars Can't get better then this., December 3, 2010
With my experience in sound and the wide range of equipment I have used, you need to read my review before you buy these.

I was looking for expanding my Onkyo receiver. I looked into many brands like JBL, Polk, Cerwin Vega and many other serious competitors. During my research I came across the Klipsch Synergy C-1 line of speakers. In the beginning I was a bit skeptical, not because of anything else but, because I have used other center channels speakers like bose, JBL, and other big names and have paid quite a bit but haven't been fully satisfied. Secondly, the price was too low to reflect on the quality (I paid [...] bucks!). So I did a lot of research and there are very few reviews for any of the new Klipsch Synergy C-1 line of speakers.

First Impression after receiving them:
Fit and finish quality was exceptional. It impressed me right from the gitco. They are designed in U.S. However they are assembled in China which was very evident. They don't look like [...] dollar speakers at all. Very sturdy and finish is chrome like. The speaker is a bit heavy which means expensive circuitry is used with good finishing material.

First thing you guys should do is throw away the any old speaker cables which you already have. They are worthless. Keep in mind you can make good expensive speakers sound cheap if you use cheap wires. You need at least 16 Gauge or better cable to really drive this puppy. I hooked up those speaker cables which came in the box for laughs and they sounded like 2 dollars speakers off street and the sound was very distorted. However as soon as I hooked up my heavy speaker cables designed for good sound. The sound improved 10-fold. I could not believe my ears. The sound in a broad spectrum was exceptional. The highs and the lows. It was very clean. The 2 mid range and the tweeter do an exceptional job. Keep in mind- its not a sub-woofer. So don't expect bass from the center channel. It won't give you anything below 80Hz. So if you intend to hear bass you will need a subwoofer. These speakers are very well designed to handle power in a very clean manner.

I highly recommend these speakers to anyone who enjoys good taste. Klipsch Synergy C-1 speakers have excellent quality and superb sound. Best of all you won't have to pay, Bose or infinity price for these. They should be priced over [...] for what they sound.

Watching AVATAR on my system after installation literally blew my socks off.

Stop your search here before the price goes UP... and hit the "Add to cart button"
Trust me, you won't be disappointed and will use this speaker for years. ... Read more
